Randy H. McBride, DVM, BS, MS Owner, Veterinarian

Randy H. McBride, is founder and owner of Neartown Animal Clinic, now celebrating 32 years of excellence in small animal healthcare. Dr. McBride is a graduate of Oklahoma State University.  He started Neartown Animal Clinic in 1980 in a small strip center on Westheimer.  In 1990 he moved to the present location, in the old River Oaks Post Office building. 

Animals have always been an integral part of Dr. McBride's life.  He has   raised and shown Bedlington Terriers, including numerous champions and a Best In Show dog. For the past several years he has been active in showing American Saddlebred Horses, and recently has started a small breeding program as well. His time away from the clinic is most always spent in the countryside where his horses reside and life moves at a slightly slower pace.  

 Dorothy M. Murray, DVM, MS
Associate Veterinarian

A 1986 graduate of Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Murray also did 5 years of post-doctorate training; an internship at Auburn, teaching Anesthesia for a year at Missouri-Columbia; and completing a 3 year Master's Thesis and Surgical Residency program at the University of Illinois.

She has worked as an emergency veterinarian, run her own mobile surgical business, and is delighted to be an associate here at Neartown. Extensive training and experience in surgery combined with complete orthopedic instrumentation and state of the art surgical and anesthesia equipment attract many referrals to Dr. Murray. She especially enjoys orthopedic procedures such as cruciate repairs, pinning and plate fractures, and repair of dislocations. She also performs soft tissue procedures such as total ear canal ablations, removal of abdominal masses, and plastic surgery.

In 2006 Dr. Murray was selected by the Consumers Research Council of America as one of America's Top Veterinarians.

Dr. Murray lives on a small farm in Magnolia with her husband James and assorted horses, pigs, chickens, dogs, and cats. Her Special Dog Tiger rides in her lap to the clinic every day. 

Krista Hunt, DVM
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Hunt is a Houston native and 1989 graduate of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. She is married to a fellow Aggie and has three children, three Borzois and two French Bulldogs. She enjoys attending dog shows and lure coursing events with her two-legged and four-legged children.  

Stephen Chmaitelli, DVM
Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Chmaitelli is a Houston native and attended Texas A&M University.  He received his Degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2000.  After graduation, he worked for a large equine practice in Katy, Tx.  From there he moved to a small animal practice in Austin, where he had some notable clients, namely Gov. Rick Perry and Texas State Comptroller Carol Keaton Strayhorn. 

In 2005, he opened East Texas Veterinary Medical Center in Carthage, Tx and was AAHA accredited within 1 year of opening.  In August 2011, he sold his practice, moved back to Houston to become one of Neartown's newest Associates.

Being admitted to the profession of veterinary medicine, I solemnly swear to use my scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health, the relief of animal suffering, the conservation of livestock resources, the promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge.  I will practice my profession conscientiously, with dignity, and in keeping with the principles of veterinary medical ethics. I accept as a lifelong obligation the continual improvement of my professional knowledge and competence.
